Professional info
My academic and scientific qualifications and degrees are of Hungarian and German origin. I am representing a late XX. century wave of researchers and professionals who left Hungary and later Europe. Some remarks to the origins of my scientific and academic qualifications and degrees are as follows:
Dr. Habil. or Habilitation is the highest academic qualification a scholar can achieve by his or her own pursuit in several European and Asian countries. After obtaining a research doctorate, such as a PhD, it requires a professorial thesis (Habilitation thesis) based on independent scholarship, reviewed by and defended before an academic committee. The level of scholarship has to be considerably higher than that required for a research doctoral (Ph.D.) thesis (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Habilitation). This scientific degree is released by the Corvinus University, Budapest, Hungary.
C. Sc. is the the English translation of the commonly used usual abbreviation of “C. Sc.” (Candidate of Science) in Hungary. The degree is accepted as “Habilitation” or equivalent performance in Germany and Ph.D. in USA. This scientific degree is awarded by the Hungarian Academy of Sciences, Budapest, Hungary.
Dr. Oec. is an official abbreviation in Hungary. The degree is accepted as “Promotion” in Germany and Ph.D. in USA. This scientific degree is awarded by the Corvinus University, Budapest, Hungary.
Former Names of the Corvinus University in Budapest, Hungary: 1948-1952 Hungarian University of Economic Sciences; 1953-1990 Karl Marx University of Economic Sciences; 1991-1999 Budapest University of Economic Sciences; 2000- Corvinus University.
